Our position in the 2011 Independence Day Parade this year will be #28. We should be about half way between Golf Terrace and Perkins. Spots are marked on the grass next to the curb.
Information you'll need to know: - The parade will be on Monday, July 4th and begins at 10AM – however, we're asking the boys and parents to start gathering at our position between 9:15 and 9:30.
- Our gathering point is #28, located on the east frontage road next to Hwy 100 and somewhere between Golf Terrace Rd. and Perkins. This has been our typical location in previous years.
- Please park in the community center parking lot or on Golf Terrace and walk your scout down to our spot, many scouts ride bikes to our position and chain them to the Edina Country Club fence.
- Come as a den, if possible.
- Make sure that your scout is wearing his Class A scout uniform and shorts.
- The boys will hand out candy during the parade - the candy and bags will be provided by Pack 62 and Pack 123.
- We will have 2 Pack Flags, One American Flag, and One Banner at the front of our group with a decorated golf cart and a vintage car (thanks to the Jacksons) at the back of the pack.
- Our group is being encouraged by the parade committee to maintain a tight formation so as not to draw out the spacing between groups.
- The scouts will pick up trash as a community service along the parade route following the parade.
Packs 62, 48, and 123 (and others) are not responsible to watch your children during the parade. Please make sure that a parent or den leader is taking responsibility for scouts walking in the parade. The following kind Akela volunteers offered to help lead our scouts in the parade. Mark Burman (Collin) Randy Kallevig (Cooper) Lisa Solinger (Sumner) Steve Martin (Bill)
When the parade is over, the participants will be dropped off at US Bank on 50th St. across from Lunds. Parents or guardians must pick up their scouts at this point if they will not be helping with clean-up. If there is an emergency and you need to reach your scout during the parade you may call your den leader or other appropriate adult.
We look forward to seeing you on the 4th! |
