Uniform

All boys will eventually need a uniform, and you can purchase a uniform at one of the scout shops listed on the Northern Star Council web site:

http://www.nsbsa.org/Contacts/ScoutShops/

The closest shop to Edina is the Minneapolis shop in Burnsville or Fort Snelling.

Lion Cubs (Kindergartners) wear a Lion Cubs or Pack 62 T-Shirt to den and pack meetings.

Tiger Cubs (1st Grade) and above wear a "Class A" blue uniform shirt to den and pack meetings. The boys will need the following for their uniform:

    • Blue uniform shirt - short sleeve polyester recommended
    • World scouting crest patch
    • Red numeral patches for "62"
    • Den patch - see den leader for den number

Pack 62 provides the advancement badges at the end of each scouting year.

One optional but recommended item is a red patch vest. The boys will collect many patches on outings, camps, and den activities, and the red vest is a convenient place for them to display their patches.

It's best to sew on the patches, but the easiest way to apply the patches is to purchase a product called "Badge Magic" from the scout store. You can use it to stick the patches on the shirt, and you fuse the patch by putting the shirt in the drier. The patch placement is shown HERE.

When you buy the blue uniform shirt, allow for plenty of growing room. The shirt should last until the 4th or 5th grade, and you don't want to move all of the patches to a new uniform if you don't have to. For average size Tiger Cubs, a youth medium uniform shirt should last from 1st grade to 5th grade.

The scout store also sells uniform hats, belts, shorts, pants, and socks, but these aren't necessary and most boys in Pack 62 don't have these items.

The total cost for a short sleeve uniform shirt, required patches, and a red vest is about $50.

In 4th or 5th grade, Webelos can choose to purchase and wear a tan shirt. This is not required.
